The Liberal Democrats have won the Calne seat, where the election was to replace the late Conservative councillor Tony Trotman. Here’s the result:

This is a swing of 17% from the Conservatives compared to 2021.

There was also an election for the town council, which was won by Jackie Bennet (LD)

The Lib Dems now have 28 WC seats, Cons 60, Independents 6 and Labour 3. There’s one vacancy, with another by-election due in Cricklade.
