Wiltshire Council has published the budget for 2024/5. There’s an increase in spending from £469m to £486m. The Band D household charge is £1806, an increase of £86. In percentage terms that’s 4.99%, of which 2% is Social Care Levy.
Nowadays the level of Council Tax is effectively fixed by Central Government.
There are £5m of savings involving cuts to services or fee increases.
38% of the council’s expenditure is on adult care, 21% is on children’s care, 9% is the cost of waste collection and disposal, and another 9% is spent on highways.
In our area the capital programme includes £16,200 for Staverton School for electrical upgrades, minor roofing and internal works.
