An application to demolish the existing building and replace it with a new care home was refused by Wiltshire Council in January 2023. The reasons were the loss of the historic building, and the potential impact of the new construction on neighbouring properties.

Appeal inspector Laura Cuthbert reasoned that the impact on 6 Littlebrook was unacceptable, so dismissed the appeal. However she also said that the loss of the old building was acceptable given the need for care services, and that the harm to other properties was not excessive.

A second revised application is currently going through the system.
