From the Local Plan Consultation online meeting on 10th October:
- Nick Botterill (Responsible Cabinet Member) at 4 minutes: ‘This is the most ambitious Local Plan that Wiltshire Council has ever produced! It looks to provide the homes [36,760] and employment we need in Wiltshire until 2038’.
- Richard Clewer (Leader of Wiltshire Council) at 1 hour 16 mins: ‘We are set a housing target by government. It is not a housing target to meet Wiltshire’s need. Wiltshire only needs 19,000 to 20,000 houses. [It might be bigger to meet our affordable housing needs]. If we don’t meet government targets we lose all control.’
- Meanwhile, Michael Gove announced in Dec 2022 that Government policy is only to provide advisory targets….
