Local Plan Review

by trevorcarbin on 19 October, 2024

General

At the Wiltshire Council meeting on October 15th it was agreed to send the Local Plan to Inquiry, likely to be next year.

There is still uncertainty around government changes to the National Planning Policy Framework.

WC doesn’t have the required five year housing land supply, so developers can get approval for sites outside of those allocated in the plan.

Atworth

Atworth falls within the Chippenham housing market area.  The allocation for the village is 66 homes for 2020 to 2036.  None have been built so far.  ‘Requirements expected to be delivered towards the end of the Local Plan period, due to identified NHS capacity constraints in the shorter term.

Holt

Allocation for Holt is 66 houses in the plan period.  As these have already been built the residual requirement is zero.

Staverton

Staverton Marina up to the B3107 counts as part of Trowbridge for planning purposes.  Old Staverton is classed as a small village.

Land NE of Hilperton is allocated for 600 houses.  The larger Hilperton – Staverton area is not allocated, but as WC has again lost control of the 5 year land supply, any applications on the land would be likely to get permission.
