Below is an item from Wiltshire police. Luckily the victim didn’t lose any money in this case. Please remember that government agencies, the council, utilities etc will never call you to demand urgent payment. If you do get such a call report to police on the 101 number.

SOUTH WRAXALL – Suspect has rung victim and said he was from the Inland Revenue and that the victim owed money so needed to go to the bank and withdraw cash or he would be arrested. Victim went to take money from the bank and withdrew £1,000 and went to Wilkinson to buy vouchers, as he had been informed to do. The manager asked why he was buying so many and told him it was a scam so he needed to go home and report to police.
