The latest programme of work has been agreed with Wiltshire Wildlife Trust. Here’s the 2018 schedule:
Late March – before the bird breeding season. A focus on going over areas previously cut. Cutting back again brambles that will have grown through and patches of nettles.
Early June – Bird breeding in full season. Cut over previously cut bramble where they have not clumped up, especially near reeds. Hedge trim exterior of area to ensure bramble growth not overgrowing fence line.
September – cut back brambles once more allowing one patch to regrow and add diversity to the site. Cut and strim a into a new patch of brambles. Hedge cut exterior.
October – Concentrate on cutting back new areas of brambles and the removal of willows.
