There was some disquiet when this was announced in December.  Why was WC providing the opportunity for the promoters of the scheme to lobby councillors but not giving the same opportunity to opponents?  WC also revealed they had a ‘project team’ dealing with the application – how big was that team and who was paying for it?  Officers responded by saying they had a legal duty to help the applicants, who would be providing some funding. 

The decision on Wiltshire Council’s response to government will be made by the WC ‘cabinet’.

The applicants have confirmed they’ve removed the plan to have a battery storage facility at Whitley, which caused a lot of concern in the area. They still need to connect to the Melksham substation though so there will be an underground cable running down from the main site in North Wiltshire.
