The cycle track from Lower South Wraxall into Ashley Road in Bradford on Avon was officially opened by Duncan Hames MP on Saturday October 22nd.
The work to achieve the route was done by local residents with the support of the parish council. Cumberwell Golf Course agreed to fund and lay the new cycle path surface, whilst SUSTRANS gave advice about signage alongside the route. The parish council agreed to pay for signage including where the route crosses the main road.
Members of the National Theatre Company joined more than ninety cyclists to make the two-mile journey from St Laurence School into South Wraxall, finishing at The Longs Arms.
Looking at it from the South Wraxall end the route runs along the MacMillan Way, through Cumberwell golf course and into Bradford on Avon via Ashley Road.
It allows an easy safe, and quick ride into town – for example a pupil at St Laurence could get from the village to school in about ten minutes by bike.
