Cottles Barton roundabout – should we give it a hump?

by trevorcarbin on 2 January, 2019

Concerns continue to be raised by residents and the Parish Council about the safety of the mini-roundabout where Cottles Barton meets the B3105.  The main problem seems to be the reluctance of outbound traffic to give way to people turning right into Staverton Marina.

Highways engineers say the signage is already adequate, but they suggest that putting a dome in the middle of the roundabout, instead of just the painted circle as at present, would help to make it more visible and would make it safer by discouraging people from cutting across.

If you’re a regular user of the junction and have an opinion on whether or not that would be a good idea then please get in touch.

Your say – “On two occasions whilst attempting to turn right into Cottles Barton from the BOA/Holt direction, vehicles traveling from the Trowbridge direction towards BOA/Holt have not even slowed down or even appeared to know they should give way as they went straight through the roundabout. Only realising they were not going to stop and taking avoiding action prevented two potentially nasty accidents.” – Staverton Marina resident.
